Creo
Creo are creatures that inhabit the world and coexist with humans. They have been an integral part of human civilization since ancient times and play a central role in society, history, and technology in the world of EvoCreo.
Description
Creo are living beings that have coexisted with humans since the earliest days of recorded history. Ancient human cave drawings depict creo, showing that they were present long before written records began. Over the centuries, they have served many purposes: partners in farming and hunting, competitors in sport, and even as beloved pets.
Despite their deep integration into society, much about their biology remains unknown. Creo possess unique cellular structures that react in unusual ways when exposed to Gemma, the crystalline material used to create Links. This cellular phenomenon is the foundation of porting which is the process of storing and reclaiming creo through Links.
The technology of porting emerged early in human history. Many believe it was introduced by the Alphites, an ancient humanoid civilization. Early porting required massive Gemma crystals, but through generations of refinement and experimentation, the same process can now be performed with crystals as small as a walnut.
History
Creo are believed to have originally existed in a parallel dimension alongside the Alphites, while humans resided in another. These original creo are known as Prime Creo and are considered highly intelligent beings, some of whom were capable of speech. Among them, the most powerful and intelligent were the Nebu and Ultimus, whose knowledge of advanced techniques rivaled even the Alphites.
The Alphites sought to domesticate creo, forming symbiotic partnerships with those willing to cooperate. However, not all creo accepted this new order. Many viewed domestication as enslavement and began to despise the Alphites, with Nebu calling for their total eradication. This ideological divide led to growing tensions and eventually open conflict between the Alphites and their tamed creo on one side, including Ultimus, and the independent creo, known as the Mal, on the other.
The Alphites faced near-certain destruction during the early battles of the conflict as many Alphite kingdoms stood together to fight this threat.
As defeat loomed, an Alphite tribe known as the Azurites prepared a desperate plan: to escape their world using the porting technology they had been developing. The process required immense amounts of energy, and as they prepared the final portal, the Mal creo launched a last, all-out assault to stop them.
In this critical moment, the King of the Alphites and the Ultimus raced out to meet the incoming horde while the Alphites of the Azurite kingdom escaped with the creo allied with them.
The creo that came through the portal from the Prime dimension were the first of the their kind in this new world. Over time they bred with the local population of animals creating the creo that we know today. All creo can trace their roots to the Prime creo.
