Yuiven is a Water and Electric-type Creo and the final form of the Yuike line. It is a 6-meter sea dragon that spends nearly all of its life out of sight of land.

Most coastal townsfolk have never seen one. Yuiven surface in the worst weather a season can produce and stay down through everything milder, so the sightings that do exist come almost entirely from crews caught out in storms that nobody would choose to sail into.

Biology

Yuiven is 6 meters long and weighs 800 kilograms. The body is deep teal over the back and pale beneath, with yellow horns sweeping back from the skull and yellow membrane stretched across a pair of broad wings. The wings are functional in air but are used mainly underwater, where they let the animal hold a fixed position in a current that would sweep anything else away.

Its charge-storing tissue has grown along the whole length of the spine and discharges through the horns. A full discharge in seawater carries an extraordinary distance, which is why a Yuiven surfacing in a storm is so often reported as lightning striking the sea rather than as an animal at all.

Yuiven anchor the shoals that Yuisafe and Yuike belong to, and the juveniles shelter in the lee of an adult's body when conditions turn. Storms are not something a Yuiven endures but something it seeks out: the charge in the air recharges it far faster than calm weather does, and a shoal will move deliberately toward a front rather than away from one.

Description

Many townsfolk haven't set eyes on a Yuiven as they usually appear in the worst of storms.
