Yuike is a Water and Electric-type Creo and the first stage of the line that ends in Yuiven. It is a storm Creo that is not yet able to handle a storm.

A Yuike caught out in rough water does not try to swim clear of it. It makes for the nearest adult of its own line and shelters underneath, riding out the weather in the lee of a body many times its size.

Biology

Yuike is 1.2 meters long and weighs 40 kilograms, a slender blue gray eel-bodied Creo with a soft yellow fin running from the crown down the length of the back. The body is far more flexible than the adult stages and has no true limbs, only a pair of small steering fins set well forward.

The yellow crest is the working organ. It carries the same charge-storing tissue that the adults use as a weapon, but at this size the charge is far too small to be offensive. Instead Yuike uses it to sense the field of nearby Creo through open water, which is how it locates an adult to shelter beneath in conditions where it can see nothing at all.

Yuike hatch in sheltered coastal shallows and stay in the shelter of a group for their first years. They feed on plankton and small crustaceans strained from the water, and the crest brightens as the charge-storing tissue develops, which is the clearest sign that a Yuike is close to becoming a Yuisafe.

Yuike hides under the larger Yuiven to protect itself in harsh waters.
