Layhura is a Water and Dark-type prime Creo of the Prime Dimension, a 10-meter swimmer that surfaces only when the water is completely still.

Layhura is drawn to grief. It does not take flesh from what it finds and leaves no mark on it, but those who have met its gaze report walking away without whatever it was they had come looking for, and without any memory that they had been looking at all.

Biology

Layhura is 10 meters long and 1500 kilograms, a deep blue serpentine body wrapped in loose white fins that trail well past the tail. Those fins are not used for swimming. They hang almost slack in the water and spread only when the animal is stationary, and the arrangement makes a resting Layhura look considerably larger and considerably vaguer than it is.

It moves through water without disturbing the surface, and it can leave one body of water and appear in another with no crossing observed in between. Whether this is genuine displacement or simply an animal that nobody manages to watch closely enough is not settled, but the sightings are consistent enough that most Evokers in the Prime Dimension treat it as fact.

Layhura takes no solid food and has no gut worth the name. What it draws from those it approaches is described consistently across every account as memory rather than substance, and the loss is specific rather than general: the person forgets the thing they were dwelling on, and nothing else. Whether this is predation or something closer to a service is a question the Prime Dimension has never agreed on.

Description

Layhura appears only on the stillest of nights. It is drawn to sorrow, feeding not on flesh but on memory. Those who meet her gaze often forget what they were looking for.
