Stegopod is an Earth and Nature-type Creo introduced in EvoCreo, and the final stage of the line that begins with Monkopod.

Stegopod has a fraught relationship with bees. To provide some perspective, one teaspoon of honey is the full life's work of 12 bees who have collectively flown over 750 miles visiting approximately 30,000 flowers and Stegopods can eat about one entire hive a week equal to about 3,000 to 5,000 teaspoons.

Biology

Stegopod's four bowed legs support its massive 1355 kg frame. While its belly sweeps low to the ground, the leafy crest at the top of its head reaches 6.5 m high. Stegopod have four enormous leathery leaf-shaped wings, but only the lightest Stegopod with the largest wings can successfully lift off the ground. Their long tail is tipped with a heavy club and sharp barb, both of which are foraging tools rather than weapons.

Instead of using their clunky paws for a honey heist, Stegopod use their flexible neck and prehensile tongue to extract their meal.

Since Stegopod prefer to quench their thirst with tree sap, not water, they puncture holes into trees with their barbed tails in order to tap into this life-giving fluid.

Stegopod live alone and are highly territorial, not because they cannot get along with other Stegopod, but as a mutual acknowledgement of fact: a single Stegopod needs a wide range within which to forage in order to sustain themselves without demolishing their food supply.

Stegopod cannot be satiated by fruit alone. They crave the highly concentrated nectar syrup that we call honey. While a hungry Stegopod might use its tail club to knock down a bee hive, most Stegopod recognize that they must be strategic about how they harvest honey so that they have food for tomorrow. Stegopod of the right dimensions can hover a few feet off the ground and dislodge honeycomb more discreetly from within the hive rather than bringing the whole complex crashing down.

Description

Stegopod has a tremendous sweet tooth. If it isn't chewing on honey, it can be found drinking the sap from trees.

Location

Stegopod cannot be captured in the wild. It must be evolved from Kentropod.

Trivia

Stegopod seems to be named after the Stegosaurus, a dinosaur from the Jurassic period, with the leaves on the Creo's back resemble the distinctive armored plates of the dinosaur. Stegopod being a Nature-type Creo could be in reference to the fact that Stegosaurus was a herbivore.
