Rebtrix is an Electric-type creo whose ferocious, bucktoothed grin frightens everything it meets, and with good reason.
You could argue that stunning prey before eating it is a mercy rather than a cruelty, since it spares the animal the pain of being conscious while torn apart. That argument has done little to soften Rebtrix's reputation.
Biology
Rebtrix's teeth crackle with electrical energy. Splotches of gold fur on its otherwise black coat stick up in jagged peaks around its chest and form a three-pronged tail. As if in warning, spots the color of blue flame mark its forepaws, ears, and face.
Detron can draw an electrical charge straight from lightning storms and from certain alpine plants and minerals, which Rebtrix cannot do, so Detron serves as Rebtrix's main source of electricity. Luckily for Rebtrix, eating a single Detron supplies enough energy for up to three months, and during that time it can stun and hunt other prey.
Juveniles have to learn to control their teeth, including how much shock to deliver and when to switch the charge on and off. Without that control they risk draining valuable stores of electrical energy, or hurting each other and themselves.
Rebtrix live in the foothills at the base of large mountain ranges, but they do much of their hunting higher up in hopes of bringing down a Detron. That is no easy task, since Detron have electricity of their own, and a Rebtrix has to be careful that a stunning attack does not rebound and paralyze it instead. They do not live in packs, but Rebtrix mothers are fiercely protective of their young, making sure they are both well fed and taught the art of hunting.
