Great War

From Creopedia

The Great War was a devastating global conflict in Zenith that began 100 years before the events of EvoCreo and lasted 25 years. It reshaped the political, technological, and ecological landscape of the world, ended the era of unchecked Creo militarization, and directly led to the creation of EvoCreo competitive system as a peaceful alternative to war.

Overview

The Great War was the largest and most destructive conflict in Zenith’s recorded history. It was fought between nations, corporations, and factions over control of Creo, Gemma, and porting technology derived from ancient Alphite knowledge. Fueled by territorial expansion, technological supremacy, and ideological differences over the role of Creo in society, the war transformed Zenith forever and defined the world in which EvoCreo takes place.

Origins

The roots of the Great War stretch back to the aftermath of the Prime Wars, when the Alphites vanished and left behind fragments of their knowledge — including the secrets of porting technology and Gemma refinement. Initially, humans used Creo for agriculture, hunting, and companionship. However, as understanding of their power deepened, Creo were increasingly exploited for military purposes.

Competition for Gemma-rich regions and the race to develop more powerful Creo-based weapons sparked growing tensions among nations. Political and industrial entities sought to exploit Creo and technology, setting the stage for a global confrontation.

The Outbreak

The Great War officially began 100 years before the events of EvoCreo when invading forces from southern regions launched a campaign into northern territories, seeking to seize Gemma mines and creo research facilities. This invasion triggered a chain reaction of alliances and declarations of war, plunging the entire continent into conflict.

The war quickly escalated into a brutal struggle with hundreds of thousands involved in the fighting, both men and creo.

Evokers and the Evolution of Warfare

One of the most significant developments of the Great War was the emergence of the first Evokers — humans who tamed creo and could command them into battle. These individuals transformed the nature of combat, shifting power away from conventional armies toward smaller, highly specialized units capable of altering the tide of battle.

Evokers became symbols of power and national pride. Governments built entire military academies to train them, and corporations competed to supply them with enhanced creo and advanced Links. This new era of warfare blurred the lines between soldier and tamer, natural creo and domesticated weapon.

The End of the War

After 25 years of relentless fighting, both sides were exhausted. Vast regions of Zenith lay in ruin, countless creo species had gone extinct and Gemma deposits were depleted. The human population suffered catastrophic losses, and the ecological balance of the world was irreversibly altered. When the war ended, the deceased of Zenith were carried off to Rouh Cemetery.

Realizing that continued war would mean mutual annihilation, surviving nations and factions convened to seek alternatives. The solution was the creation of EvoCreo, a global competition that would channel conflict into regulated creo battles instead of open warfare. The countries established arenas where disputes could be settled without mass destruction.
