Links
Link is an item introduced in EvoCreo. Links are refined crystals made from gemma. Through refinement, the crystalline structure is aligned, enabling it to store vast amounts of energy. Each refined gemma has a unique crystalline pattern that acts as a key, allowing it to bind or create a "link" with a Creo. A small trigger is added during refinement, enabling the Link to open a portal to a parallel dimension. Upon activation, the Link releases a concentrated ball of energy toward a target Creo. If the Link’s stored energy is sufficient to overcome the Creo’s latent energy, the capture succeeds. The Creo’s energy signature then integrates into the Link’s crystalline lattice, allowing the Link to transport the Creo through the portal it creates. If the capture fails, the stored energy in the Link disperses and the Link becomes inert. Research is ongoing into methods for recharging Links after use. Some talented evokers are able to recover the energy of their Links after use for a second use if they sense that the Linking process is about to fail. Humans cannot be linked — when the energy contacts human skin, it causes only a tingling sensation. This limitation suggests that Creo and humans may have different common ancestors, making only Creo compatible with the porting process. Ancient texts indicate that early Creo were resistant with Link energy and that the Alphites may have used domestication techniques to gradually enable linking. Several companies produce different types of Links by altering the refining process or infusing Gemma with other substances making the Links more suited when used for a variety of Creo. == Summoning == Once captured, creo can be summoned from a link which requires energy to activate and is provided from the Evoker. Each link that an Evoker carries takes a toll on them by syphoning off some of their energy. EvoCreo, the sport, limits the number of creo that an Evoker can carry to five as that is the amount that was deemed safe at the highest levels of the sport. To carry five creo takes dedication of the Evoker through both physical and mental training. == Processing and Charging == Once extracted, Gemma must be cut and refined to align its crystalline structure and enable it to store energy. After cutting, the refined Gemma must be charged with energy — a crucial step that must occur shortly after processing. If too much time passes, the Gemma loses its ability to store energy effectively and becomes unsuitable for use in a Link. == See also == * Creo – The creatures captured and transported using Links. * Gemma – The mineral base from which Links are made. * Alphites – An ancient civilization believed to have influenced Creo evolution.
